Developer Partner Terms

As part of our Partner Program, your use of the Developer Portal and release of applications is also governed by the additional terms set out in these Partner Terms, which together with the Terms of Use and the Applicable Use Policy form the binding “Agreement” between you and us. You may also need to accept additional terms and conditions before receiving certain Partner Program benefits.

“We,” “our” and “us” refer to Volvo Group Connected Solutions AB with Company Registration No. 559153-7823, a company part of the Volvo Group. All defined terms not explained in these Partner Terms are explained in the Terms of Use.

Our Partner Program

Use our knowledge and take your best idea into the driver's seat. Build and host your Partner Application in your own environment and use our on-board application programming interfaces to access vehicle and driver data by becoming one of our Partners.

  • To start a collaboration with Volvo Group Connected Solutions you must apply. Present your business case and company details using the application form in Developer Portal.
  • Your application will be taken into consideration by Volvo Group Connected Solutions, and the applicable Volvo Group business areas. Confirmation via email will follow.
  • If your application is accepted, you will be contacted by the applicable Volvo Group business area.
  • By signing a commercial agreement with the applicable Volvo Group business area, you agree to be bound by this agreement.

If you are accepted into the Partner Program, you may be entitled to receive certain additional knowledge and information as described in the User Journey, which we might update from time to time.

We may use the contact details you provide to send information about the Partner Program, including information about related events and training opportunities, invitations to participate in surveys and research opportunities, and other information supporting your efforts to deliver solutions to us and Volvo Group.

As a Partner, we put our full trust in you as well as in your organisation and you therefore agree to conduct yourself accordingly and otherwise act in a reputable as well as ethical manner. For the avoidance of doubt, participation in this Partner Program does not authorize you to resell or sublicense our Developer Portal and any content thereof.

Partner Applications

As a Partner, you may use the resources in the Developer Portal to develop new applications and solutions (“Partner Applications”).

A Partner Application must:

  1. comply with all applicable laws,
  2. create good user experience, and
  3. be complemented by suitable user support functions.

A Partner Application may not:

  1. include any third-party advertisement (except when the advertising is necessary for the primary purpose of the Partner Application, e.g., finding a food stop),
  2. use or include offensive language or content,
  3. do anything else which may harm our brand.

Release of Partner Applications

If you would like to release a Partner Application (make it available to the public), the Partner Application needs to be approved by us through the process of delivery, testing and release (the “Deployment Process”). You can read more about and how to initiate the Deployment Process in the Developer Portal. For your information, there are 4 main steps required to make the Deployment Process as smooth as possible:

  1. Make sure your Partner Application can pass our policies and guidelines.
  2. Test your Partner Application to ensure there are no bugs or crashes in accordance with our testing guidelines.
  3. Configure your Partner Application for distribution with the appropriate information.
  4. Deliver your version for testing in our pre-release area.

Your delivery and test results are gathered in a regression report and release notes, used by us to make the Go/No-Go decision to release the Partner Application. If your Partner Application is approved, it is uploaded to our release area and made available for production and aftermarket.

Our use of Partner’s trademarks

Partners grants us and the Volvo Team the right to use the Partner’s company name and logo as a reference for marketing or promotional purposes on our website and in other public or private communications with existing or potential developers. The Partner has the right to use our company name and logo as a reference for marketing or promotional purposes of the released Partner Application ONLY, in accordance with our policies and guidelines made available to you from time to time. It is expected that explicit approval is requested by the Partner for each instance of such usage, and the Partner shall use our company branding information only upon obtaining such approval.

Verification process

We have the right to verify Partner’s compliance with the Agreement and Partner shall after ten (10) days’ notice make available to us all information (including, but not limited to, full access to any relevant records etc.) necessary to demonstrate compliance with the obligations laid down in the Agreement. Furthermore, Partner shall allow for and contribute to any audits, including inspections, conducted by us or another auditor mandated by us. Any audits or other verification processes shall be at our expense but Partner shall provide any required assistance free of charge. Verification will take place during normal business hours and in a manner that does not interfere unreasonably with Partner’s operations.
